E118 | Guyon Espiner
Episode summary | Guyon Espiner
Guyon Espiner is one of New Zealand’s most highly respected journalists.
He has an intimate knowledge of New Zealand politics and has worked for over 20 years across print, radio and television, as a reporter, political editor and anchor. He currently works at Radio New Zealand as an investigative journalist covering topics such as police shootings, spy agencies, political donation scandals, lotteries, drugs, and international relations.
Four years ago, he gave up drinking alcohol and has just released his new book The Drinking Game – which looks at how big business, the media and politicians shape the way we drink. He is also an advocate for the revitalisation of Te Reo Māori using his platform to introduce the language on a daily basis.
This was a cracking ep. Guyon is sharp, worldly and insightful and his experiences and stories from two decades in New Zealand journalism would rival anyone in the country.
